Camping at Herald Provincial Park

Camping at Herald Provincial Park

Thanks to all who gave input on the camping questions. The club has decided the first trip will be during the week of June 22 - 28, 2025 and the campground will be Herald Provincial Park. There are three campgrounds in the park next to each other, but we suggest the Reinecker Campground. It is about a 3 hr 15 min drive from Hope. Stopping for lunch in Merritt or Kamloops is a good idea.

There are a few double sites if you have friends to share with. You must book your own site for however many days you’d like. Bookings with others will overlap and we will figure out a way of letting everyone know who has booked.

To make a reservation you need an account at BC Parks. The booking window is 4 months ahead of your arrival date (i.e. February 22) and opens at 7 am. If you’re not familiar with the BC Parks reservation system, you should create an account, sign in, and become familiar with it. The reservations are made in real-time so you will need a credit card to complete a reservation. Click here for all the information.

This park was chosen for the amenities inside the park:

  • Many hiking trails and self-guided nature trails
  • Water fun: swimming, canoeing, kayaking, paddleboarding
  • Cycling

The amenities near Salmon Arm and near the park are:

  • Shopping in Salmon Arm at DeMille’s Farm Market and Petting Zoo
  • Salmon Arm Go-Karts and Mini Golf in Canoe
  • Golf: There are several courses in the area
  • Wine: There are three wineries nearby
  • Salmon Arm Wharf in downtown

There will be no co-ordinator for these trips so any activities can be planned before or at the site.
